2011年6月25日から30日まで開催される第4回アジア旧石器協会日本大会及び国立科学博物館のシンポジウムのファーストサーキュラーが発表されましたのでお知らせします。
追って、日本語での案内も出る予定です。

Fourth Annual Meeting of the Asian Palaeolithic Association (APA)
and
Symposium on
Emergence and Diversity of Modern Human Behavior in Palaeolithic Asia

A) Fourth annual meeting of the Asian Paleolithic Association (APA)
The main theme is 'Recent Progress of Paleolithic Research in Asia.'
Subtopics are as follows:
- Paleoenvironment and humans in Pleistocene
- Behavioral Strategy and lithic technology
- Paleontological and Paleoanthropological Research
- Emergence and diversity of modern human behavior
The APA was established in 2008. It is currently organized by, in alphabetical order, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Russian Paleolithic organizations.

III. Call for papers
Information about submission of abstracts will be dispersed later.
A) APA meeting
Oral and poster sessions will be held with oral presentations limited to 15 minutes. All abstracts are read by members of the Program Committee chaired by Akira Ono. The committee may recommend some participants to change from the oral to poster sessions in case we have too many requests for the former.
B) Modern Human Behavior Symposium
Oral presentations in the symposium is limited to about 40 invited speakers due to time constraints, but there will be room for poster presentation of other participants. We also welcome those researchers who would like to join the audience and participate in discussions.
IV. Language
The official language will be English.
V. Field trip:
We are planning one-day filed trip on Monday, June 27. The date, place and fee will be informed later.
VI. Costs:
Travel & accommodation
We ask you to cover your own travel and accommodation costs.
Registration fee
Participants are asked to pay JPY 15,000 to cover the costs of lunch and refreshments during the conference, and one-time conference dinner. The registration fee is JPY 5,000 if you would like to attend the APA meeting only.
Field trip
We will inform the cost when the plan of the field trip is fixed.
VII. Accommodation:
Limited number of hotel rooms will be arranged by the organizing committees. We expect that accommodation fee will be about JPY 7,000-8,000 per night for a single room.
